Open Forums for 2012-2017 Planning Cycle

In preparation for the kick-off of the new 2012-2017 planning cycle in Fall 2012, college deans and vice presidents are publicly sharing their top five planning priorities with the campus community. The Deans’ open forums were held on Wednesday, March 21 and Thursday, March 22, 2012. Summaries of their presentations are now available. On Tuesday, April 10th at 2:00 p.m. (in the Reed Parr Room, JCK 1100), the Provost will share his priorities in an open forum, followed by the vice presidents on Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. (in the Reed Parr Room, JCK 1100). Summaries from these presentations will also be available for review.

Introducing the 2012-2017 Strategic Planning Cycle
Beginning spring 2012, all academic departments/schools/colleges and administrative departments/units/divisions will begin developing strategic plans for 2012-2017 which will align with the recently approved University goals and initiatives. Detailed instructions, samples, and a formatted template are provided in the specific drop-down menus above. Additionally, a faculty development workshop will be presented on February 1st, as well as a professional development session on either February 13th or 14th, to guide in the development of these plans. The new planning cycle will be implemented in fall 2012.
 

2011-2012 Outcomes Revisions

With the fall semester getting underway, it is time to begin reviewing and revising missions, outcomes, and methods/measures for 2011-2012 using the Texas State outcomes assessment system. Due dates are as follows; unit heads will approve outcomes and assessment methods/measures for each of their departments by October 14, 2011. The Office of University Planning and Assessment will then audit reports for compliance from October 17 – 24, 2011. When all of the corrections and final modifications are completed based on audit report findings, vice presidents will then review and approve revisions for each department by October 31, 2011. It is time once again to begin reporting results for the 2010-2011 outcomes assessment activities using the Texas State outcomes assessment system. The due dates for departments to enter data is July 15, 2011. Unit heads will then review and approve reports by August 5, 2011. The Office of University Planning and Assessment will audit reports for compliance by August 8, 2011. Once corrections and all final modifications are completed based on audit report findings, vice presidents will then give final approval on the reports by August 15, 2011. Since the 2004-2009 University Plan was extended in 2007, we have made great strides in fulfilling our desired direction. A summary of our progress toward accomplishing the goals and intended outcomes outlined in the University Extended Plan through 2012 is now available for review.
The annual progress for 2010 toward the University Plan has been completed and is available for your review. All colleges and divisions submitted individual progress reports which have been summarized and integrated into a collective report for the university. University Extended Plan through 2012

In the four years that have passed since Texas State adopted the 2004-2009 University Plan, the University has accomplished many intended outcomes to achieve progress on the six goals contained in our original plan. (more...)
