University Planning and Assessment Calendar through 2012

Note:   This planning and assessment calendar is part of the Texas State University Plan that was implemented and placed on the web in August, 2004. The original calendar is contained in part five, entitled “Institutional Effectiveness Plan.”

 
March-May

Deans meet with chairs and directors to discuss academic unit plans in conjunction with annual performance review.   Deans will provide feedback on desired directions. Following discussions with chairs, faculty, and direct reports, deans will share top five strategic plan priorities for the remainder of the 2004-2009 plan with their faculty and staff.

 
March-May

Administrative unit heads meet with directors to discuss administrative support unit plans in conjunction with annual performance review. Unit heads will provide feedback on desired directions. Following discussion with unit heads, directors, and staff, administrative vice-presidents will share top five strategic plan priorities for remainder of the 2004-2009 plan with their staff.

 
April-May

Deans meet individually with the Provost to share top five college strategic plan priorities for the 2004-2009 plan.   Provost provides feedback and direction on strategic plan priorities.

Deans and vice presidents revisit the University Environmental Scan and send updates to Institutional Effectiveness as necessary.

 
May

Senior staff meet with the Provost to discuss Provost’s FY 2006 senior staff goals progress.

President’s Cabinet begins discussions on academic and support plans to determine fund allocations and reallocations for the next fiscal year.

Academic units provide strategic plan progress update to the dean for preliminary review. This update should capture all activities for the 2005-2006 fiscal year.

 
June

During the Provost annual planning retreat, senior staff begin finalizing planning priorities for the remainder of the 2004-2009 plan. IE provides update of environmental scan for retreat.

Academic chairs and directors meet with deans meet to finalize annual college report. This update should capture all 2005-2006 academic year activities. Deans will provide feedback to chairs on desired directions.

President’s Cabinet annual planning retreat is held to discuss planning issues. President’s Cabinet completes review of the strategic plan and approves FY 2007 budget recommendations that will be sent to the Board and 2008-2009 legislative appropriation requests (LAR) to be sent to the legislature.

 
July

Senior staff meet with the Provost to discuss FY2006 college plan progress outlined in annual plan update. Academic college annual plan update reports are due to the Provost, with a copy to Institutional Effectiveness, by July 30.

 
August

Administrative directors and unit heads meet to discuss progress on support department plans. This update should capture all activities for the 2005-2006 fiscal year. Unit heads will provide feedback on desired directions.

Board of Regents approves FY 2007 Texas State budget.

Deans share college strategic plan priorities with faculty and staff at their annual fall meeting.

Final update of University plan is approved, including new and revised strategies for the remainder of the 2004-2009 plan.

 
September

Unit head and administrative vice president meetings are held to discuss progress on administrative support plans. Feedback is shared with directors and support staff. Divisional annual reports due to Institutional Effectiveness by September 15.

After reviewing college annual plan updates, directors and administrative vice presidents will revise plans to reflect academic support initiatives for the remainder of the 2004-2009 plan. Priorities will be shared with administrative staff.

 
October

Institutional Effectiveness provides Annual University Plan Report to President’s Cabinet for review.

 
November

Institutional Effectiveness disseminates approved Annual University Plan Report to the University community. Annual President’s Report is developed and distributed to external stakeholders.
