Mission Statement

UPA promotes and guides comprehensive university strategic planning and assessment activities for the university community by encouraging and utilizing useful feedback in the planning process, educating the campus community regarding planning and assessment activities and facilitating the processes, and ensuring that outcomes are used to further university excellence. UPA effectively and efficiently directs and maintains the university, Academic Affairs, and division policy and procedure review processes in an effort to keep the university community fully informed and compliant.

Dr. Lisa Garza, Director

Dr. Garza, director of University Planning and Assessment, is primarily responsible for guiding the development and assessment of department, college, division, and university strategic planning and outcomes assessment activities at Texas State. She also maintains and oversees the University Policy and Procedure Statement (UPPS) and divisional policy review system for the university.

Iza Martinez, Administrative Assistant III

Iza, administrative assistant, provides direct administrative support to the director of University Planning and Assessment. Her primary responsibilities include assisting in the oversight and management of the University Policy and Procedure Statements (UPPS) and the Academic Affairs Policy and Procedure Statements (AAPPS) process. She is also responsible for the tracking, collection and finalization of the UPPSs and AAPPSs, annual collection and compilation of the university plan progress report, proof and audit of University Outcomes, and maintaining the UPA web site.
